I have exatcly the same problem as KenRod and REISCOOL. Initial coupling with passenger cars won't happen. I have tried every possible speed ( 1 mph to 5 mph ) with brakes on and off, the rear engine just does not couple with the first passenger car.
One possible solution of course is to change the PAX consist ( or the first car ) to a better working one. I already tried this and also accomplished the activity succesfully, but didn't post the timeslip, because I don't want to cheat.
But my humble newbie opinion is that the "NERX Coach #102" wagon coupler does not work correctly.

I have occasionally beaten the "won't couple" problem by saving just before attempting the joint, then restarting TrainSim from scratch. Doesn't always work, but usually. A bit of an inconvenience, though.

Thanks for your kind help rlduncan. I worked as you adviced. Finally, I succeeded in accomplishing this action, but I still cannot figure out what's the problem with those couplers.
This is MSTS railroading. We get used to handle mysterious technical problems quite often. In my opinion, in a strange way this is a part of appeal of MSTS. My current running MSTS installation is at least the twentieth I have made. Propably time cures memories and in reality I have installed it 50 times Rolling Eyes but who cares. For me, even re-installing is part of the fun in MSTS world.

Interesting that you guys are the only ones that I can remember who have had that difficulty. I have no idea why. Confused Glad that you got it sorted out. Very Happy

John, I most recently had that coupling problem with one of the acts I was developing for the Needles route. I had picked up the helpers several times, then one time they refused to couple. Apparently there's a small glitch in MSTS that causes the problem.

I'm not an engineer so don't quote me on this, but I don't believe there is any set rule as to which track to use like there is for automobiles on the road. It is just whatever track the dispatcher tells you to use or your path is set for.
