Just finished a player path for a new activity for CGW. I saved it & went to Train Simulator to test it before going any further. When it got into setting up the simulation I got the failed message. I don't know how to fix this but I know two expert moderators that do. The B&R MEN: Brian Cool & Robert Cool TAKE IT AWAY! Very Happy Very Happy

We fixed that by not using the CGW route anymore. Good luck.

I'm assuming that you are using the latest version of the route - the 2007 one.

There were some significant difficulties with that route, and they were the reasons that the early version of the route was removed from the support network (that plus the fact that only 7 work orders were developed for it plus the great difficulty of accessing the download files for the route). But the latest version must be OK, if the converted work orders have been produced.

Searching the forums for that error message gives a number of things that can cause that problem, the most common being that the install.bat did not run properly when the route was being installed. Are you using Vista? And have you checked the route with Route Riter?

Maybe one of the guys who have worked on the recent version of the route will come along and see your posting and be able to offer more concrete support.

Well, I have run the CGW activities. The route has been a test to set up. I agree with Bob that the route should be avoided. I have run practically all the MSTS routes in the world. A few still use Scalerail. Most routes that have used Scalerail have removed it.

I use an entirely separate installation of MSTS to run the CGW. I use that installation for CGW only. You need to have Scalerail installed in addition to the standard NE setup. The setup needed for CGW becomes incompatible with the standard NE setup.

If you have been trying to run other NE activities on the CGW installation, I recommend that you restart with a clean MSTS installation, install the complete NE, install Scalerail and then install CGW.

Is your installation the full NE setup? Do you have Scalerail properly installed?

Good Luck,

If you have NEW ROADS then you shouldn't need Scale Roads at all. Rolling Eyes

I think that you will find that New Roads and Scale Rail are very different things. pclawser did not mention "Scale Roads" in his posting, so I'm not sure what your comment means. He asked if you have Scale Rail installed. If you don't, then might that be the cause of your problem?

This shows some action in MSTS.

The rails that were included with the original publishing of MSTS were twice the width of real rails. To many people this seems to have been glaring and unacceptable. The people in England developed the UK Finescale which is still being well used there. The Scalerail was developed and used in some routes of other locations. But the Scalerail turned out to be more problem than benefit.

XTracks has become a universal driving aid and helps some with the track size.

What is this standard NE setup? I do have scale rails but it seems that about 6 files are missing from my version so I am unable to run CGW VER3. I've been trying to get into 3D Trains to download Scale rails but can't get into their downloads. I keep getting an error message.

The standard NE setup is the group of steps we all take in the NE welcome area initializtion. Should I enumerate the list?

A note from the 3d site:

"ScaleRail is not visually compatible with other track systems, including the default track that ships with MS Train Simulator."

I'm not sure why you have posted in this thread. Confused Scale Roads and Scale Rail are two different packages. You are the only person in this thread who has mentioned Scale Roads. Question Question Question

I mentioned it because there has been some misinformation in some forums that you need scalerails and scale rails to run version 3. I don't have and never had scaleroads. I ran 2005 CGW with X tracks & new roads. For version 3 I run with scalerails & new roads. Cool Cool Cool
