The ranks here in the NERR forums are calculated automatically by the forum software. They are based on the number of messages that you post on the forums. (There are some people in these fourms who have a position rather than a rank, e.g. HR Director.)

The ranks on the NERR Crew Callboard are calculated on the number of total hours in the time slips that you have submitted.

There is NO connection between the two databases of usernames, profiles, or ranks. That is why you had to register separately for these forums and for the NERR. There are a number of people who are registered members of these forums who are not members of NERR.

On the Crew Callboard, the ranks and related hours are:

WCN - < 1.5 hours
Apprentice - 1.5 to 25 hours
Fireman - 25 to 50 hours
Hostler - 50 to 75 hours
Student - 75 to 100 hours
Engineer - 100 to 250 hours
Engineer 1 - 250 to 500 hours
Engineer 2 - 500 to 750 hours
Engineer 3 - 750 to 1000 hours
Senior Engineer - 1000 to 1250 hours
Senior Engineer - 1st Class 1250 to 1500 hours
Sneior Engineer 2nd Class - 1500 to 1750 hours
Seniore Engineer 3rd Class - 1750 to 2000 hours
Executive Engineer - 2000 to 2250 hours
Executive Engineer 1st Class - 2250 to 2500 hours
Executive Engineer 2nd Class - 2500 to 2750 hours
Executive Engineer 3rd Class - 2750 to 3000 hours
Chief Engineer - 3000 to 5000 hours
Superintendent Engineer - greater then 5000 hours[/color]

On these forums, you achieve the new rank when you post the following number of messages:

1 - Apprentice
15 - Baggage Man
30 - Porter
50 - Hostler
75 - Switchman
100 - Brakeman
150 - Conductor
200 - Engineer
300 - Station Master
350 - Yard Master
400 - Superintendent
500 - A#1

(I'm not sure if your rank in the forums changes as the messages get pruned - I can't remember that.)
