I am working on an activity where you pick up 4 cuts of cars from industrial sidings. Call them A, B, C and D.
When you get to the final drop off point, D is left on a passing track, C is set off on the siding, B is set off back onto D. So B and D are left on the passing track and A is then back back onto C and then backed the rest of the way into the industrial siding.
Up until this point, all the previous pickups are shown as "Done" in the work order. But after leaving C & D on the passing track all of the status indicators are cleared as if the work wasn't done.
Once A & C are delivered and the activity ends, you get a "Failed" report indicating work not done, when in fact it has been done.
How do you prevent the clearing of the "Done" status for the cars left on the passing track???? |

Using BIN or not?
Do you have the reversible box checked? If not using BIN, this sounds like the culprit.
What are you using to activate the pickups? Levels? Plain pickup, assemble, assemble at location?
So many variables without more information. _________________ Robert R. #109 - NW Division

BIN is installed and reversable box is checked. Activation levels are set to 1. After the pickup, the workorder shows "Done". After the pickups are made, a location event sets the pickup to 0. After the 4th pickup, all work shows done in the Work Order.
The problem occurs when the cars that are not being carried on to the next Work Order point are left on a mainline. The train is broken apart by setting the cars that need to be placed are set over to a siding. The cars not being placed remain on the mainline.
Since the mainline has no siding markers, the "Drop Cars at Location cannot be used. If the cars not being spotted were able to be placed on a siding and indicated in a work order if this would solve the problem.
Also, some of the cars that are being spotted are being separated by the original group. i.e. original pickup is xxxxx-0 thru 9 0-4 are being left on the main while 5-9 are being spotted. I'm wondering of breaking up an original consist would cause the problem. So instead of picking up 0 - 9 in one group, xxxx1-0 thru 4 would be indicated on the work order with the second grouping of xxxx2-0 thru 4 placed on the same track but coupled during the pickup. Could that solve the problem?
I'm thinking that since you cannot use Drop Cars at Location to leave them on a mainline, this is the real problem. Maybe I should just pick a siding parrallel to the main line earlier in the path after all pickups are made and put them in a work order section with Drop at location. |

I do believe that one right there is the problem. Should be unchecked normally except for speed limit restrictions which you are trying to catch more than once. In this case it is resetting itself. _________________ Robert R. #109 - NW Division

Thanks Robert,
I assumed that reversable meant that the switching activities were reversable. The reversable box actually means that the "Work Done" status is reversable. |

Thanks again for the information on the reverse boxes. I remember asking about activities originally packed with ADFRR and got this reply:

I haven't looked at those in years, but to be honest, there probably is no completion event. Those were when I was first starting out and that could very easily be the case.
I've found it's 10 times more difficult to go back and 'fix' an activity than to just 'can' it and start over. Just never took the time to do it since I started in shortly after that writing here and learned a few things .. hopefully Embarassed

So, I went into the AE with ADF2_BWFL_USF and checked it out. Found that the reverse boxes were checked on all the Action Events! So, I unchecked these boxes and reran the activity. It now ends sucessfully.
Thanks again Robert! |
